Lög til staðfestingar Icesave samningnum felld í þjóðaratkvæðagreiðslu Í kjölfar þess að Icesave samningnum var hafnað í þjóðaratkvæðagreiðslu þann 9. apríl 2011 gerir Eftirlitsstofnun EFTA (ESA) nú ráð fyrir að svör berist fljótlega frá Íslandi við áminningarbréfinu sem ESA sendi þann 26. maí 2010. ESA mun kynna sér andsvör íslenskra stjórnvalda áður en frekari skref verða tekin í málinu.
Ef ekkert kemur fram í svörum íslenskra yfirvalda sem hnekkir frumniðurstöðu ESA, mun ESA senda frá sér rökstutt álit um brot Íslands á skyldum sínum samkvæmt EES samningnum. Íslandi yrði veittur tveggja mánaða frestur til að bregðast við rökstudda álitinu. Geri Ísland það ekki mun ESA vísa málinu til EFTA dómstólsins.
